Spring Activities
Springtime is glorious in northern Michigan. The beginning of hiking and cycling season is in full swing and the spring blooms are vast and varied. You'll see all kinds of flowers that aren't around in the summertime and most of the shrubbery by side of the road is multicolored lilacs, making it a fragrant season as well!
As of May you can kayak down the Crystal River or take a guided wildflower hike in the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Or take advantage of the lack of crowds and discover the local flora on your own along one of the many local trail walks, from the Heritage Trail to Empire Bluffs. Want to roam even further? Rent an e-bike in either Empire or Glen Arbor and tour the historic homes and barns of Port Oneida. Later in the season, you may even sneak in a few early beach days!
With the weather warming each day, but the nights still crisp, this is the perfect season to maximize outdoor time while still tucking in for perfect sleeping weather.
